We believe in youth and the power of focused mindset. We work to cultivate lessons of discipline, self worth and motivation, both physically and mentally, to enable children to grow into adulthood as better citizens of their communities and the world.
Today the gym has maintained not only Sully’s values – but also the old school and feel, that’s really hard to find in your modern-day gym. It is the home of 60+ underprivileged youth, and 22 amateur boxers with bright boxing careers ahead of them.
Our goal is to grow the number of youth that we serve in the community. Together with parents, teachers and agencies we can assist in their physical and mental health through promoting interest in sports activities and recognizing outstanding achievement in personal & sporting development.
Letters to sully's boxing gym
Sully’s gym has been a gathering place for at risk youth in Toronto since 1961. Whether they wanted to learn to box or just needed a safe place to hang out, the club has always opened their doors to kids in need, at no cost to them. To this day, Sully’s continues to provide local kids with a structured environment; an environment in which they learn to channel their energy into positive and constructive activity. In doing so, Sully’s has created an alternative to hanging out on the streets and potentially exposing these kids to trouble.
Our future specialized programs include after school tutoring, fitness, nutritional, and mindfulness education combined with non contact boxing. These elements support our mission to provide a holistic approach to personal development. By using discipline, awareness, self-worth and motivation, we cultivate the power of a focused mindset and work towards supporting kids’ personal growth into confident adults and better citizens in their communities.
As a not-for-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of community minded-individuals and businesses in order to meet our mission. Your support will go directly to programs that will make an everlasting difference in the lives of children and youth in our community.
